Happy Summer 2019, I said it. I mean it’s been extremely hot in Kampala that I believe all Ugandans can go ahead and call themselves basummer! It is tough not to be in constant holiday mood with the sun this blazing; so I have been leaning towards more happy colors. There is no happier color than yellow in my opinion, it is a representation of the sun. It is also a very emotional color symbolizing light, optimism, confidence, creativity and being fully awake. Yellow is one of my secret favorite colors. I say secret because my closet is filled with blacks, browns, whites and navy blues.

Many shades of yellow compliment dark skin tones which is such a wonderful thing especially for us that reside in the tropics with constant sunshine. I like my yellow items in casual style because of how the color makes me feel, which is to go out and have some fun at brunch or any other fun places.

Now let’s talk about this magical dress!  How gorgeous are the ruffles on the arms that match seams of the wrap part of the dress? It is lightweight and cotton- the perfect recipe for hot weather. What I really appreciate is the dress design, it’s quite short but does not look like it, the ruffles do a good job concealing the real height. Who does not love a precious dress that makes you feel good when you effortlessly throw it on?

I added brown sock boots to the dress to make my legs feel longer. There is no greater chemistry than yellows and browns to me, they make such a beautiful and soft contrast. I also love how yellow contrasted with the blue background at the creative space at The Innovation hub.
